Consumer Protection and Right of Withdrawal

When outside business premises, you, as a customer, are not necessarily prepared for a sales situation. The law protects you from entering into hasty contracts – we are here to advise you.

Consumer Protection: Right of Withdrawal and Right of Rescission.

Whether it's the famous vacuum cleaner, a magazine subscription, or a set of storage containers: many goods or services are sold not only in traditional retail stores or via the internet but also door-to-door. This includes not only door-to-door sales in the form of a representative visit who actually offers their goods at the doorstep, but also any sales situation concluded outside a company's business premises. For example, we encounter such transactions in pedestrian zones, at trade fairs, during coffee excursions, or even at the workplace. However, the most common situation nowadays is purchasing through online retailers.

Not all consumers are aware of their rights regarding withdrawal and rescission in non-face-to-face transactions. In traditional door-to-door sales, pressure is often exerted on customers, who – feeling overwhelmed or surprised – cannot take the time to reconsider their decision to make the purchase. Consequently, they often regret the purchase later.

We inform you about the legal situation and your options after concluding consumer contracts.
